Photography for The Leathersellers' Company - The Class Ceiling exhibition portraits

April 24, 2024  •  1 Comment

In February I was really pleased to work with writer Fiona Thompson to take photographs to illustrate a piece she was writing on social mobility for the Leathersellers' Company. The article, which you can read on the Leathersellers' site, looks at 'The Class Ceiling', a photography exhibition at John Hansard Gallery, part of the University of Southampton. The Class Ceiling celebrates the working class and explores the barriers of class in higher education.

I was really pleased to have opportunity to visit the exhibition, which featured wonderful photographs submitted by university students, staff and alumni who come from a working class background, and to meet Melissa and Liam, two of the participants.

Below are some of the photographs from the commission, but I do encourage you to read Fiona's article to get the full story.
