In the autumn I had the absolute joy of working with amazing feisty folk band Wise Woman to create band promo portraits for their brand new EP and upcoming tour.
Blending ancient folk traditions with a bold contemporary flair, Wise Woman arrives with a heady collision of lush vocal harmonies, cinematic strings and 90s girl power. The group’s “startling and shimmering” (Folk Wales) blend of folk, jazz, and musical theatre sounds has enchanted audiences far and wide, from Radio 3 to Celtic Connections to Secret Garden Party. Spinning tales on diverse subjects such as fenland witches, environmental activists and drag artists, powerful lyrics and captivating storytelling transports audiences on a unique and transformative musical journey.
This tour celebrates their upcoming EP ‘Hold The Wonder,’ (March 2025), which centres the band’s mesmerising acappella sounds with original songs of protest, personal discovery and perhaps a dash of shapeshifting.
The location for the photographs was Blaxhall Village Hall near Woodbridge. A picture-perfect English village hall and popular folk music venue, we set out to create a set of images with the joyful feel of a 1970s village hall disco to accompany their next EP, ‘Hold The Wonder’.
It was such a fun day putting together the set, trying to tame balloons and of course they had an excellent playlist to pose to!
An absolute dream of a job to work on!
