15:28-15:32: Everything went bright golden yellow, the rain came down and then it was night. Photograph of rainfall as the sun sets, close up, selective focus and dark so you can just see droplets, bokeh and blur.

Notes on a photograph: 15:28-15:32

On Tuesday morning I wrote my newsletter and for some reason began with “The weather has taken a distinct turn for the wintery here in Essex and I’m doing my best not to get too distracted by every interesting puff of steam or bit of frost catching the low golden sunshine as I work through my processing, though those creative breaks often give me a good burst of revitalisation!”

On Wednesday I was working away at my desk when the light changed dramatically – everything went bright golden yellow, I looked out of the window and saw the rain coming down. I picked up my camera with a 105mm macro lens and spent 4 minutes trying to capture what was special about that moment. By the fifth minute the sun was gone and all of a sudden it was night.
