Amy Hamilton with the Hen Sweatshirt

Photography for Hens – Hen Sweatshirts raising money for the British Hen Welfare Trust

A little while ago, my friend Amy asked if I would be interested in helping with a project she was organising to raise money for the British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT). Amy was working with woman-owned small businesses to design, make and sell a series of hen sweatshirts to raise money for BHWT, and I was happy to be able to help in a small way by photographing the lovely sweatshirts being modelled.

Since 2005, the British Hen Welfare Trust has been saving and rehoming commercial laying hens throughout the United Kingdom. Working closely with leaders in the egg industry, the BHWT designed and developed the existing rehoming model, and to date they have rehomed over eight hundred thousand hens. You can find out more about the work they do at: https://www.bhwt.org.uk

Organised by Amy of Hamilton’s Hens, the sweatshirts feature a cute hen drawn by Cakes with Faces and embroidered by Sister Studio. The cosy organic cotton sweatshirts come in Lava Grey, Mid Heather Green, Heather Grey and Black and are available to order for just £37 including UK postage, and £5 will be donated to BHWT for every sweatshirt sold. To order, please email Amy stating your colour choice and size:

Medium 38/40″
Large 41/43″
