Photography for The English Garden Magazine: RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023

I was really pleased to photograph the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for The English Garden Magazine again this year. I’ve been photographing Chelsea for The English Garden for a few years now and it’s always an amazing, super busy day trying to capture as much as possible, do the best job I can to capture the incredible gardens and figure out where I know that famous face from.

Following on from last year there was a lot of ‘natural’, achievable-looking planting and growing around more everyday situations, which was nice to see as well as more formal settings. That’s not to say anything looked in any way easy, though. It’s unbelievable to think how these small plots of land in a show ground get transformed into such incredible gardens that look like they’ve been established and honed for decades, and all so different from each other! At one point I walked up a hill to a waterfall, all within 10x15m.

As always I felt very inspired but we’ll see how much I manage to actually put into practice – hopefully at least a bit!

Here are some of my photographs from the day – I’ve kept it reasonably short and sweet here but you can see lots more with plenty of information about the gardens, plants and plenty of non-Chelsea garden inspiration and advice on The English Garden’s website.
