Photography for the Goethe-Institut London

In June I was really pleased to work with the Goethe-Institut London on two photographic commissions at their base in Kensington, West London.

The Goethe-Institut is Germany’s cultural institute with a global reach. It promotes knowledge of the German language, fosters international cultural cooperation, and conveys a comprehensive image of contemporary Germany. It aims to strengthen intercultural dialogue and a global civil society.
The programme at the Goethe-Institut London in South Kensington includes talks, classes, and screenings of contemporary German cinema. These events, as well as the institute’s library and cafe, are open to all: www.goethe.de/london

First I captured their Career Roadshow, a fantastic day showcasing the many professional possibilities available to those with German language skills, including meeting German/international companies, speaking with students studying abroad and workshops on finding and applying for positions. It was great to see all the varied opportunities and definitely made me feel I need to brush up on my (sadly very basic) German!

The second commission was to compile a new set of promotional images for the Goethe-Institut London, including interior photography showing spaces available for hire, a sense of what it is like to be in a class and portraits of members of staff. I love days that are full of variety (and photographing interiors!) so it was great to work with the team on these projects. Thank you to the Goethe-Institut London for these commissions and to the wonderful team for their assistance on the day. It really is a fantastic organisation – if you are/would like to be a German speaker definitely check out their classes, events program and library on their website: www.goethe.de/london and if you’re looking for spaces to hire in an impressive location in London they are perfect for that too!
